Update on Glenn

After a terrible weekend of poor sleeps, trouble breathing, vomiting and fevers, we went to see the doctor on Monday morning.  As soon as we got into the room, the nurse hooked Glenn up to the oxygen and he began feeling better almost right away.  The doctor told us that all the symptoms Glenn was experiencing were probably because of a lack of oxygen in his body.  She told us she would like to keep Glenn in the hospital at least overnight in order to keep an eye on him.  A CT scan was also done on Monday and we were told that the scan didn't show anything that we didn't already know about.  While on one hand that is good news, it also means that there really is nothing that can be done to make Glenn feel much better.  Glenn spent most of the day in the hospital on Tuesday because he needed another blood transfusion and I brought him home last night with oxygen.  Shortly after we got home a delivery truck arrived with supplies so Glenn can be on oxygen all the time.  The machine we have in our living room that Glenn is hooked up to with a 50 foot line that makes it possible for him to go everywhere he needs to in our home sounds like Darth Vader from Star Wars.  Our pets are not quite sure what to make of it.  While Glenn was in the hospital, arrangements were made for home care to come regularly and for an occupational therapist to visit our home to assess what aids we may need to make it easier for Glenn to be as independent as possible.  Glenn has decided he will be working at home, as least for now.

Last night I read a quote by Edith Schaeffer which was a good reminder.  It says: "We don't get a bowlful of strength or grace to put on a shelf and reach for in time of need.  It is given us on the spot."  That is so true.

Well...that's all my weary brain can think of for now.  Till next time...

Love,

Denita
